Job Description
Dalhousie University’s School of Planning is inviting applications for a two-year limited-term teaching appointment at the Assistant Professor rank, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with an expected start in July 2027. The successful candidate will teach up to four courses per academic year, supervise students, and contribute academic service to the School, which is the only professional planning school in Atlantic Canada east of Quebec, offering accredited Bachelor and Master of Planning degrees as well as a research-based Master of Planning Studies. Teaching needs include Introduction to Planning, land use policy and housing studies, and plan making and the planning process, along with planning studio or site planning, with possible coordination of the Bachelor of Planning internship or Master of Planning work term and supervision of thesis and independent research students. Candidates must hold at least one recognized, accredited planning degree endorsed by the Professional Standards Board, as well as a relevant master’s degree; MCIP, RPP or LPP designations are considered significant assets. Applicants should be comfortable in an interdisciplinary setting and bring leadership and innovative ideas to planning practice, research and teaching.
