Job Description

Rainmaker builds and deploys audacious technologies that work with nature to create an abundant, habitable planet. The company is modernising proven cloud-seeding science with weather-resistant unmanned aircraft systems, radar and satellite observations, numerical weather prediction, novel sensing and validation systems, and sustainable seeding technologies, building an integrated system to make more freshwater available to farms, ecosystems and communities. Rainmaker is pioneering a modern precipitation enhancement cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity, and is hiring a Director of Agricultural Development to lead its work with American agriculture from Washington, DC.

As Rainmaker’s Director of Agricultural Development, you will own the company’s engagement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the agricultural community in Washington, building the programmes, partnerships and funding pathways that connect precipitation enhancement to the conservation and water supply needs of American producers. You will also own the Congressional relationships and coalition presence that make the work durable. Responsibilities include owning Rainmaker’s relationship with USDA end to end, including NRCS at the national headquarters, regional and local office levels, along with FSA, RMA, ARS, ERS and NIFA, building durable relationships with the agencies that shape farm conservation and water programmes, and engaging Congress and agricultural coalitions to advance precipitation enhancement as a tool for water security.

This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC, for a candidate with deep experience in agricultural policy, USDA programmes and government relations, who can translate Rainmaker’s technology into programmes that serve American producers, farms and rural communities. The role calls for strong relationship-building with senior government and industry stakeholders, strategic judgement and the ability to build coalitions around a bold, science-led mission to make it rain, make it snow and make Earth habitable.
