Job Description
Ontario Provincial Police is appointing an Automotive Service Technician (Job ID 250842, Job code C0015) in its Fleet, Supply & Weapons Services Bureau, based in Orillia. The technician joins the Fabricating/Equipping unit and performs preventative maintenance, equipment and systems installation and removal, and repairs for the OPP vehicle fleet. The role calls for mechanical and electrical diagnosis, knowledge of automotive technology, technical manuals and diagnostic procedures, vehicle electrical systems, emergency lighting systems and wiring component locations, and safe working practices under WHMIS and the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The successful candidate will identify and evaluate test procedures, decide whether equipment or parts can be repaired or must be replaced, and demonstrate strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills. Mandatory requirements include the ability to pass an OPP background and security investigation, an Automotive Technician 310S or 310T Certificate of Qualification or equivalent, a valid Ozone Depletion Certificate, a valid Class G driver’s licence, and the technician’s own tools.
