Job Description
The Ridings Medical Group is seeking a resilient, strategic and highly collaborative Senior HR Manager to oversee workforce strategy and operations for a large, forward-thinking training practice serving more than 48,000 patients across five sites in the East Riding of Yorkshire, led by 11 GP partners. The post holder will lead strategic horizon scanning for statutory, regulatory and NHS updates, manage complex conflict, grievances and disciplinary processes, assess organisational and legal workforce risks, and guide leadership teams on governance and policy compliance. Day-to-day responsibilities include recruitment, induction and training, DBS and professional registration checks, absence management, annual leave, onboarding and offboarding (including GP registrars, HYMS students and student nurses), wellbeing initiatives, and management of the People HR system, alongside HR projects such as TUPE work during practice mergers or takeovers, and line management of the Senior HR Advisor. The role also covers HR activity for OPL Enterprises, the group’s pharmacy arm. Essential requirements are extensive, proven HR experience at senior management level, a CIPD qualification (Level 7 preferred) or equivalent professional HR qualification, and proven strengths in conflict resolution, strategic horizon scanning, risk management and negotiation, with a calm, collaborative and pragmatic leadership style. A master’s degree in human resources or healthcare management, NHS or primary care experience, and experience of the NHS Agenda for Change framework are desirable. Job type: Permanent, Full-time (flexible working). Location: The Ridings Medical Group, 4 Centurion Way, Brough, HU15 1AY, United Kingdom, with other practice sites at Hessle, Selby, South Cave and Holme-on-Spalding-Moor.
