Job Description
Stripe is seeking a highly experienced accountant to join its world-class Accounting team and help us scale for the future in a fast-paced environment that is growing rapidly. In this role, you will support global revenue accounting across Payments products, using your technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, specifically ASC 606, to quickly identify accounting implications and impacts on customers while advising and collaborating with team members across functions. This is a full-time role based in Seattle, with office locations also in New York and South San Francisco HQ. The team is Controllership. The Stripe Product Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications, and supporting teams’ ability to make informed strategic decisions. Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Responsibilities:
- Build scalable accounting processes to support global growth in payment processing accounting
- In conjunction with our go-to-market (GTM) Revenue Intake accounting team, partner closely with our business teams
- Use a deep understanding of ASC 606 to develop requirements and standard operating procedures
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging areas
- Plan and perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce internal management analyses and reporting
- Support external audit processes
Minimum requirements:
- 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in accounting, and a B.A. or B.S. degree
- Fluency in U.S. GAAP and the ability to research complex accounting issues with a focus on ASC 606
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
- Strong knowledge of Excel, experience working with large data sets from multiple sources
- Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results
Preferred qualifications:
- Chartered accountant (CA), certified public accountant (CPA), or similar qualification
- Knowledge of or experience in the technology, payments, and/or AI industries
- SQL experience
In-office expectations: Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the office.
Pay and benefits: The annual US base salary range for this role is $165,900 – $248,900. Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses.
