Job Description
The City of Ottawa, Finance and Corporate Services Department, Service Ottawa, is hiring Customer Service Agents for multiple positions, on both full-time temporary contracts of up to one year and full-time permanent positions, working 35 hours per week. Agents provide information and customer service across a wide range of municipal and provincial services, programs, policies and regulations, through counter, phone, email and web channels, and determine the course of action for parking ticket resolution where the rules allow. The work calls for strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent customer service, the ability to compose clear professional written responses, organize and prioritize competing demands, exercise sound judgment, and work independently and as part of a team. Requirements include completion of Grade 12 and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a customer service environment providing service to the public; post-secondary education or training related to customer service is an asset. Knowledge of customer service delivery practices, MS Office Suite and job-specific programs, provincial legislation and regulations, corporate policies and procedures, and health and safety legislation is expected, as is knowledge of the City’s organizational structure, services and personnel as an asset. Successful applicants are placed on an eligibility list in order of seniority for 12 months. Language requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – French and English. A Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check is required. You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement. Job type: Multiple Full-time Temporary (up to 1 year) and Multiple Full-time Permanent, 35 hours per week. Location: Various Locations, Ottawa, ON, Canada. Salary: $61,663.42 – $72,157.54 annually (2024 rates of pay), as stated on the posting. Closing date: 31 December 2026.
