Job Description
At Hadley Designs, learning should be enjoyable, engaging and screen-free. Millions of parents and teachers trust the company’s beautifully designed, developmentally aligned educational tools to help children grow and thrive. As a fast-growing, family-founded brand, Hadley Designs is on a mission to make learning meaningful for families around the world, redefining early education with creativity and purpose. Every product is hand-drawn and teacher-designed, crafted with care to build confidence and connection, helping families and teachers make learning fun and meaningful, nurturing curiosity and creativity in children. Hadley Designs is seeking a Director of Recruiting to own how the company finds, vets and closes the growth operators and future leaders who will carry its next phase of growth.
The Director of Recruiting will own how Hadley Designs sources, vets and closes top talent for every open role, from Amazon and ecommerce operators to senior leaders, designing and running the recruiting engine that consistently delivers a strong top of funnel, putting every candidate through a process that shows who they really are, and bringing leadership only the people worth their time. This is a leadership-tier role with end-to-end ownership of recruiting, from the pipeline to the right people joining the team. There is no recruiting coordinator: the Director builds the engine and lets AI and the tools they set up carry the admin, so time goes to meeting candidates, sourcing them and finding new ways to reach great talent. The role runs first-round interviews, including for director-level roles, manages outside recruiting partners to Hadley Designs’ standards, and is the face of the brand for every candidate, so the successful candidate needs to be great on camera and great with people. Responsibilities also include recruiting pipeline management across LinkedIn, Workable, job boards, online communities, referrals and personal networks, running Culture Index, case studies and first-round interviews, managing the candidate experience end to end, optimising sourcing channels, building “always hiring” shortlists for recurring high-leverage roles, managing agency partners, finding creative new talent channels, monitoring Glassdoor and Indeed reviews, delivering weekly hiring pipeline reports and running reference checks by phone for leadership roles.
Applicants should have 3 to 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in remote or ecommerce organisations, with agency recruiting experience a big plus, and a proven track record of hiring across marketing, operations, Amazon, ecommerce, product and leadership roles. The role calls for confidence and presence on camera and comfort representing a brand to candidates, experience running structured interviews, test projects and case studies, outbound sourcing experience and expert-level LinkedIn and Workable skills, real creativity in tapping online communities to find talent in unusual places, AI capability, a CRM and documented SOPs, strong writing ability, the ability to handle 5 to 10 active roles at a time with no drop-off in process, and experience building and running reporting for hiring metrics and managing outside recruiting agencies. Success is measured by an average time to fill open roles under 45 days, 250 or more qualified applicants per active role per week, a weekly hiring pipeline report by sourcing channel that is 100% complete and on time, 15 or more completed candidate case studies available for review per role per week, a Glassdoor company rating of 4.5 or higher across the year, and an interview and recruiting experience candidates rate highly. Benefits include a remote-first work environment with flexible working hours, paid time off and holidays, access to learning resources and professional development, free access to Hadley Designs products, regular interaction with leadership including the CEO, and stability from more than a decade as a family-founded, mission-driven brand.
