Job Description

The Ontario Public Service, Ministry of the Attorney General, Court Services, is hiring Court and Client Representatives for irregularly scheduled hours and on-call contracts across Ontario. This posting is used to create a list of qualified candidates for ongoing on-call opportunities, with multiple vacancies for contracts of up to 6 months. Representatives play a key role in ensuring the courts run smoothly, working with and supporting judges, lawyers, the public and justice system participants, both in the courtroom and at the court office: managing court records, receiving and drafting court documents, reviewing legal documents, supporting online, hybrid and in-person hearings, using court recording equipment, guiding the jury selection process and managing court materials. The role is on-site (not remote), with irregularly scheduled hours — staff may be called in as needed and may work on weekends and holidays — and may involve travel to different courts by air or car. Mandatory requirement: the ability to type at least 30 words per minute. Additional requirements may include availability for an irregular schedule, willingness to travel, and a licence to drive in Ontario. Candidates should be able to apply guidelines, procedures, policy, legislation and regulations, adapt to new skills and digital processes, troubleshoot basic computer equipment issues, host proceedings using online meeting software, search for information and enter data, provide exceptional customer service, communicate confidently in writing and speech, handle complex information with attention to detail, take initiative, exercise good judgement and discretion, prioritize work, work independently or in a team, and handle cash payments including fees, daily transaction balancing and records. The Ontario Public Service offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package option, including a defined-benefit lifetime pension plan, group health, dental, life and disability benefits, and an Employee and Family Assistance Program. Job type: Temporary, multiple vacancies, contracts up to 6 months, irregular/on-call hours, on-site. Location: Ontario, Canada — Chatham, Goderich, Guelph, Kitchener, London, Owen Sound, Sarnia, St Thomas, Stratford, Walkerton, Windsor and Woodstock; primary address 425 Grand Ave, Chatham, West Region, Ontario. Salary: $29.53 – $34.75 Per hour, as stated on the posting (per the OPSEU Collective Agreement). Closing date: 31 December 2026, 11:59 pm EST. This posting stays open based on operational need and may close at any time.
