Job Description

The University of Law (ULaw) is continuing to invest in its future and is looking for an experienced Head of Finance Integration (FTC – 12 months) to play a pivotal role in bringing finance functions together following an exciting acquisition. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile integration project and to make a tangible impact during an important period of change. The post is full-time on a 12-month fixed-term contract, primarily remote/homeworking with a contractual hybrid base of either London, Moorgate or Woking. The salary is up to £82,750 a year. The closing date for applications is Sunday 15 November 2026; if the University receives a high volume of applications, the listing may close early.

Reporting to the Director of Finance Governance & Reporting, you will work alongside three Finance Directors. Your focus will be on understanding how each function operates and identifying differences between them. This is a standalone, project-based role with no direct reports. The University is looking for a commercially minded, technically strong finance professional.

What you’ll be doing: Lead finance integration activities, aligning processes, controls, reporting and ways of working. Review payables, receivables, balance sheets, reconciliations and month-end / year-end processes. Review existing process maps, identify inefficiencies and control weaknesses, and implement sustainable improvements. Assess finance processes and controls within Unit4 Agresso to improve consistency, accuracy and efficiency. Work closely with Finance Directors and improvement teams to drive delivery and embed changes. Communicate progress, risks and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.

Essential criteria: Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent experience). Proven experience delivering finance integration, financial due diligence or finance transformation. Strong technical accounting knowledge, including payables, receivables and balance sheet reconciliation. Experience mapping processes, identifying root causes and implementing practical improvements. Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and communicating financial risks and recommendations. A hands-on, proactive approach, with the ability to work independently, manage ambiguity and deliver.

Desirable criteria: Accountancy practice experience, particularly transaction services and financial due diligence. Experience integrating finance functions following an acquisition or other organisational change. Experience using Unit4 Agresso. Experience in higher education, private education or another complex, multi-entity organisation.

Benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days plus bank holidays, access to a wide range of staff and student discount platforms, a Private Medical Scheme and Life Assurance, a Contributory Pension Scheme, and Season Ticket Loans and Student Discounts.
