Job Description

Responsibilities:
The Infant Room Teacher provides loving, individualized care for infants (6 weeks–12 months) in a safe and nurturing environment. This role supports early growth and development while maintaining health, safety, and licensing standards in Tennessee. Collaborate with team members to create a positive and supportive environment.

Duties

  • Provide safe, nurturing, and responsive care to infants (6 weeks–12 months).
  • Feed, diaper, and comfort infants according to individual schedules and needs.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support growth in motor, language, cognitive, and social-emotional skills.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards (toys, surfaces, bedding, bottles, etc.) in line with TN childcare regulations.
  • Observe and document developmental milestones and share progress with families.
  • Create and maintain daily reports for parents (feedings, diapering, naps, and activities).
  • Ensure the classroom meets licensing, health, and safety guidelines at all times.
  • Foster strong, positive relationships with families through communication and trust.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff to maintain a warm, team-centered environment.
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with infants in a childcare or similar setting preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A nurturing, patient, and dependable personality.

Nice To Haves

  • CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or higher in Early Childhood Education.
  • Previous experience working with infants in a licensed childcare center.
  • Familiarity with Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) childcare licensing standards.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (infant/child).
  • Training in Safe Sleep practices and knowledge of infant developmental milestones.
  • Strong communication skills for building positive relationships with families.
  • Ability to create engaging, age-appropriate activities that support early learning.
