Description

  • Seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Software Systems Testing & Quality Assurance Specialist to join our project team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and integrity of our health domain data platform. This role requires strong expertise in relational database systems, SQL, and a solid foundation in software testing methodologies. Experience with Python is a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases for the health domain data platform.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
  • Validate data engineering activities, ensuring data quality, integrity and optimal performance.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects using appropriate tools.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and automation strategies.
  • Provide clear and concise documentation and reports on testing outcomes.

NOTE

  • Assignment Type: This position is currently listed as “Hybrid” and consultants will be required to work onsite. The details of this arrangement will be confirmed with the Hiring Manager.
  • Extension/Amendment Attestation: Extension(s) only allowed using unused days/funds left on contract. No additional funds will be added beyond the maximum contract value and any extension options included in the original SOW. HSC may exercise its option(s) to extend the SOW beyond April 5, 2026. Such extension(s) will be allowable only if the Master Service Agreement is extended beyond April 5, 2026 and be upon the same terms, conditions and covenants contained in the SOW.
  • The resource needed till October 16, 2026, will include an option to extend, at the same rate if Tender_12075 Managed Service Provider for Contingent IT Resources is also extended for a further one year, else an RFS under the Successor VOR will be issued for the services required April 5, 2026 to October 16, 2026 and any extension options.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements

Public Sector Experience – 5 points

  • 5+ years of experience working in the federal/provincial/broader public-sector in the field of software systems development, testing or operations

Analytical and communications skills – 20 points

  • Excellent documentation skills, including the ability to produce clear and concise test plans, test cases, and test summary reports.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including business stakeholders, developers, business analysts, architects and project managers.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret test results, identify root causes of issues, and recommend corrective actions.

Data management Skills & Experience – 25 points

  • 5+ years of experience in data management
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing or maintaining relational database management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of relational database systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL for data analysis and validation.
  • Experience with Python for scripting and automation is an asset.

Quality Assurance Skill & Experience – 50 points

  • 10+ years of experience in quality assurance and software system testing:
  • Extensive experience in software systems testing, including functional, regression, integration, system, and performance testing across complex enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and quality assurance methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid models.
  • Proficiency in test planning and strategy development, including risk-based testing approaches and test coverage analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, PyTest) and scripting for automated test execution.
  • Expertise in defect tracking and management, using tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps, with a strong ability to triage and prioritize issues.
  • Ability to design and execute test cases based on business requirements, technical specifications, and user stories.
  • Experience with API testing using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or REST-assured is an asset
  • Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner is an asset.
  • Experience in test data management, including data creation, masking, and validation in relational database environments.
  • Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines and integrating testing into automated build and deployment processes.
