Early results from the 2026 United States midterm elections are coming in on the night of 3-4 November, with counting still under way and no overall control of either chamber yet decided.
Democrats flipped their first Senate seat of the night, taking North Carolina from the Republicans (Roy Cooper).
In Georgia, Senator Jon Ossoff was re-elected. Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms was projected to win Georgia’s governor race, which would make her the first Black woman elected as a US governor and flip that office.
In New Hampshire, Democrat Chris Pappas was projected to win a Senate seat, becoming the first openly gay man elected to the US Senate.
At about 07:40 PKT, with counting still under way, the BBC results tracker showed the Senate at Democrats 45 (+1) against Republicans 36 (-1), with 16 of 35 seats counted. In the House, it showed Democrats 90 (+1) against Republicans 48 (-1), with 138 of 435 seats counted. CBS had rated the Texas Senate race as leaning Democrat at 07:31 PKT.
These are early, partial results, and they should not be read as a final outcome for either chamber.
